Basic Celebration

Yesterday in the back of my mind I knew it was Tuesday, but it didn’t really sink in until I realized the Color Challenge was up on SCS.  I decided to combine the Pink Pirouette, Basic Black and Whisper White colors with the Kazan’s Sketch over at 2Sketches4You.  I knew I had some Sweet Always designer series paper and one of the main colors is Pink Pirouette, so I pulled that out and everything else just fell into place.  The base of the card is Basic Black and is layered with Pink Pirouette.  I stamped this layer with my Paisley background stamp to give it some dimension.  I then added paper piercing in the upper corners.  The larger of the 2 middle layers is made from the same colors as the base.  I did cheat a little because I stamped my Pink Pirouette layer in Regal Rose ink that had been stamped off once.  I lined the point of the heart up in the center of the paper and stamped one on all four sides.  I then added paper piercing all around this layer before I added the next layer of Basic Black topped with Sweet Always dsp.  I then tied on the Pink Pirouette striped ribbon bow.  The heart is stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White.  After it dried I sponged Pink Pirouette ink into the center of the heart with a sponge dauber and set the heart up on dimensionals.  I added the Sweet Serendipity sentiment in Regal Rose ink and added 2 vintage brads.   The inside is layered with Whisper White and is stamped with the Elegant Cheer Birthday Wishes sentiment.  Sometimes when a card is born, something magical takes place and this is one of those cards.  It all came together so perfectly and it all flows together so well.

Last night I had my first class at Higher Grounds, formerly Moon Monkey Coffee Company.  It was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to the next one in two weeks!  If you are in the area come in and join us.

Today is a rainy day, so I feel that some more stamping is in order.  It was drizzling until we turned to walk home from the bus stop and then it started pouring just because I didn’t have an umbrella to take.  I guess I’ll be investing in one of those pretty soon as I’m sure rainy fall weather is going to be more of the norm.  Well, I’m off to get a few things accomplished around here.  I feel like I’ve been living in a whirlwind these last few weeks and I can’t wait to have a chance to slow down.

  14. I LIVE IN A HOUSE OF ALL BOYS AND USUALLY DON’T CARE FOR PINK. I GUESS THAT IS WHY I DON’T HAVE DAUGHTERS. THAT BEING SAID, I AM WARMING UP TO THE COLOR OF PINK. THANKS FOR GIVING ME ANOTHER COLOR TO THINK ABOUT OTHER THAN NAVY, RED, OLD OLIVE, ETC 🙂
