Balloon Fun

Posted on

It’s May 1st and that means it is the official start of National Scrapbooking month. Therefore, I thought it would be fitting to start the month with a scrapbook page of my own.  This photo was taken in February.  Colin had attended a birthday party for one of his classmates and brought home 4 balloons.  It kept both him and Evan busy for hours.  They were delighted running around, tying them to their bikes and just watching them float in the breeze.  After the winter we had we were just happy to get outside in the warm air and have fun.  My journaling says “It doesn’t matter how many toys you have.  Often it is the simplest things that bring you the most joy. Colin brought these balloons home from a party and they entertained the two of you for hours.”

I scrap lifted the idea for this page from the February 2009 issue of Creating Keepsakes.  The original page by Kelly Noel is found on page 63.  I switched the page to a 8 1/2 X 11 page from a 12 X 12.  I used a Chocolate Chip base.  The Whisper White strip is 2 1/2 X 11 and is stamped with flowers from Petal Pizzazz.  The 5 1/2 X 11 strip of Raspberry Tart designer series paper is adhered next to it.  I layered my Pink Pirouette journaling box with rounded corners and photos on the side.  I then added the 8 X 2 1/2 strip of Raspberry Tart paper across the bottom with a 5 1/2″ long strip of Whisper White that was punched with the eyelet border punch.  The chipboard letters are from On Board Timeless Type and are covered with Chocolate Chip craft ink.  I used the same ink to stamp the sentiment above the letters from Best Wishes & More.  The fun tag was made by cutting a curly punch in half and stamping on the ABC lower images in Chocolate Chip ink.  I added one Chocolate Chip corduroy brad to the center of a flower.

Stamps:Petal Pizzazz, Best Wishes and More, ABC lower,
Paper:Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart dsp,
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip craft ink
Accessories:chocolate chip corduroy button, eyelet border punch, On Board Timeless Type, curly label punch, dimensionals, 3/16″ corner rounder
