More Cakes

I mentioned that I was taking the Wilton Cake Decorating course at Hobby Lobby. I finished up last weekend. I’m waiting on school to start to take Course 2. I can’t wait for it to start. I haven’t had a chance to post my last two cakes, so here they are. I just love my Rose cake! It took me forever to figure out how to make the roses, and I still need a lot of practice, but I hope you agree it’s so pretty.

The clown cake for Father’s Day was completely Evan’s idea. He fell in love with the picture in my Course 1 book, so I promised to make it. There was no getting out of it when he had his mind set. I asked Roger and my Dad if they’d mind having clowns on their cake and they said it was fine with them.

Today we are going to visit with my Dad again. This time I don’t have a cake to take with, but I wouldn’t want people to think I bring one each time they see me. I am not going empty handed though and made a fantastic Antipasta salad for a picnic lunch. It’s so easy. You need a jar of sliced green olives with pimentos, 2 small cans of sliced black olives, a jar of giardinera chopped up, a small jar of roasted red peppers chopped up, 8 oz of Summer sausage cubed, 8 oz of pepper jack cubed, 16 oz of Tri Color pasta cooked and rinsed in cold water and 1 cup of Italian dressing. It’s quick and yummy!

I’ll see you back here tomorrow with a new card.

  4. I love your cakes! I had to look up giardiniera…seems like it’s a local hot relish to your area? I’d never heard of it. The recipe sounds really good! When I was a kid I used to spend some time each summer at my grandparents (with Great-Grandma, too) in the country. They had a kiln and we’d always do ceramics. Another country gal out there was a cake decorator and I remember making flowers on a “nail” (isn’t that what they’re called)? I felt so grown up doing those things! We also painted with Liquitex (I think that’s what it’s called). I guess between both sets of grandparents and my Mom, I really got a good start on crafting! Anyway, I love seeing your cakes and I guess it takes me down memory lane!

    Your cakes are fabulous looking!
I can’t believe that you have only done one course!
I have always wanted to do the same, but with no kids, and a pielovin family, I figure I have no one to eat my endeavours ( and i don’t want to be 900 lbs!)
