I was typing up my post for today and happened to notice that yesterday I reached 800 posts to my WordPress blog! That doesn’t even include the year or so before I self-hosted my own blog on my domain. When I started my blog I didn’t even know if I had much to say. I was using a scanner to add photos and my cards were something I’d not be proud to post today. What a difference 4 years makes!
This card was made for two challenges. The first was the sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I love the sketches that Laura and Kazan post each week and I’ve missed doing them this summer. The 2nd challenge is the Ways to Use It challenge at SCS and it was to “stick it” and it was stretched to involve the use of pins, needles or sticks. I used a sewing machine on my card so I’m counting it for that challenge as well.
I wanted to use some of the newer Stampin’ Up! sets I haven’t gotten around to getting inky yet. This one is Morning Cup. I’d have never thought of how true this was until I had kids. I didn’t drink coffee and a glass of water and a shower was enough to wake me up in the morning. I now *need* my daily cup or two of coffee to feel like a human being. Since we are talking about morning coffee I picked my colors to reflect a bright morning. The base is Bashful Blue and then I layered Crumb Cake with Sweet Pea designer series paper in two patterns. I sewed the top and bottom of this layer and the small piece of dsp. I then added my main image layer with Early Espresso (fitting for a coffee themed card I think) and Whisper White. I sponged the Whisper White layer to give it more of a vintage feel. The image is stamped twice in Basic Gray and then watercolored with various re-inkers. I made the circles with the Circle Scissors and then just cut off the overhang with a pair of scissors. The Chantilly Crochet Trim is bunched with a piece of thread and then pulled to make pleats. I finished it off with 3 half pearls.
Tomorrow I have a fabulous card using another Stampin’ Up! set along with Jen’s Sketch for You to Try. I also have a new embellishment I used on my card that was handmade by my Mom! You’ll want to stop by and see it. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Bandit is doing fabulous! He had his surgery and was a little dopey and mopey last night. He’s going to be happy that he can eat again today. The poor thing is probably starving from his fast for surgery and they said no food until this morning.
