Autumn Welcome – SFYTT

Well I have some good news to share with you!  I finally have my full working version of my photo editing software back on my laptop.  I can once again edit photos of cards.  I was lost without it and I didn’t really want to learn a brand new to me program or pay the money to buy a newer version of the one I am used to.  Roger got it up and running yesterday evening.

I know each week I say I can’t believe it is Saturday once again, and honestly I can’t.  This week has gone by in a blur.  My sister is here to stay for a week with my parents dog while my parents are out in Nevada for a Memorial service for my great uncle who passed away on November 6th.  My mom brought them down on Tuesday after I finished working in the library at Colin’s school.  We went out to lunch, did a little grocery shopping and since then I don’t even know where the time has gone.  Wednesday was a half day for Colin and Evan spent the afternoon at a friends house.  Thursday was Evan’s 5th birthday and Roger had both Thursday and Friday off of work.  My sister and I also worked on cutting out, counting and sorting both Box Tops and Campbells Soup labels for Colin’s school.  I know that there were thousands of Box Tops and hundreds of soup labels.  It was a big undertaking, but it is almost done.

I made myself stop and sit down to stamp yesterday and got my Sketch for You to Try card done.  Once again I had a lot of fun with this sketch and the card came together pretty quickly.  It was figuring out the details that took up most of my time.  I am very particular about making sure things are balanced and work well together.  I paired A Wreath for all Seasons from Papertrey Ink with retired Autumn Traditions paper from Stampin’ Up!.  I started with an Elegant Eggplant card stock base and then layered More Mustard and Autumn Traditions dsp and sewed around it with a zig zag stitch.  I did the same with some more dsp using a different pattern for the long layer at the bottom.  I then sponged Ruby Red card stock (retired) with Riding Hood Red ink and distressed it with the Cutters tool kit before adding it to the base and then adding two Neutrals 5/16″ brads. The main image layer is Whisper White and Soft Suede.  I stamped the wreath image twice in Soft Suede, moving it slightly the 2nd time to give it a shadow effect.   I then stamped the berries in Riding Hood Red.  The wreath was dressed up with a Neutrals button with a half pearl for the center and then attached to the card with dimensionals.  The sentiment banner is made from the sentiment banner die from Lil’ Inker Designs.  It was a SFYTT sponsor a couple weeks ago and I love the die!  I made it from Crumb Cake card stock and stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink before attaching it with a dimensional.

This week I stuck more to the sketch that Jen provided for us.  We’d love to have you play along!  If you need more inspiration please check out the rest of the fabulous Sketch for You to Try sisters:

I can’t say I don’t have another busy weekend and week planned. Today I’m teaching a class at my Mom’s house, even though she is out of town. The boys have a birthday party to go to tonight so they are staying home with Roger so we don’t miss the start time.  Tomorrow we have church and then we want to get our Christmas lights up (we don’t turn them on though until after Thanksgiving).  It’s going to be near 60 degrees and I much prefer that to colder weather for putting up lights. It’s easier when you can feel your fingertips. On Monday I’m making the side dishes for Thanksgiving, on Tuesday Evan has a Thanksgiving program at school and I have to help set up and my Mom is picking up my sister and the side dishes I made the day before.  On Wednesday, Evan has the day off of school and I’m hoping that it’s cold and we stay inside to stamp and then all too soon it’s Thanksgiving and I’m staying happily inside while everyone else braves the mall.  The only store I’ll go to is the grocery store which will be completely empty!  I do hope December is easier on my schedule and I can get more projects done.  I’m planning on making Teacher gifts so at least I’ll have stuff to share.

If you’ve made it this far, have a great weekend!
