Greenhouse Notes

Yesterday was one of those days that I spent almost entirely in the car.  I offered to make the cupcakes for Evan’s classroom  Halloween party.  I saw these cute monster cupcakes in Taste of Home and it says to bake the cupcakes in black cupcake liners.  With Halloween right around the corner you think they’d be easier to find.  I was wrong about that and went to 4 stores before I finally found them.  When I did I bought 3 packages so I should be set for a long time.

Today I took Evan to school and then sat down to make my card for the SCS Sketch Challenge.  I really love the colors but I’m not overjoyed by the main image panel.  I may end up changing it out, but more likely I’ll leave it and it will grow on me.

I used Pear Pizzazz for the base of the card and then layered Chocolate Chip with Greenhouse Gala dsp.  I then cut a zig zag out of one of the patterns and sewed one side on with my sewing machine.  I added 5 half pearls down the side and then for a pop of color a paper pierced piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock.  The images are from Aviary and the sentiment from Apple Blossom Hostess stamp set.

Tonight is our last soccer practice for the season and then we are headed into the Tournament this weekend.  I know we have 2 games, but after that it’s all up in the air.  We are also taking in a deaf Aussie for Sunday night as he makes his way to his permanent foster home.  We’ve never had a deaf dog in the house before so this should be an interesting experience.

Stamps: Aviary, Apple Blossom
Paper: Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip, Greenhouse Gala dsp, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight
Accessories: sewing machine, mat pack, dimensionals, half pearls

Happy Fall

I think I’ve mentioned that I love fall many times on this blog.  Yesterday we had a perfect fall day, so instead of staying inside I took Evan to the park after lunch and we played and then took Bandit on a walk.   I had planned on getting something done in the morning, but instead I spent it grocery shopping and Evan wanted me to go to his Kids for Jesus assembly in school that morning.   Each month the kids get a new mission and yesterday he learned about Forgive and Forget.  Then they are supposed to practice it in school and at home.  It’s a new program his Catholic school has started this year.

This morning I figured I’d stamp a bit since it’s going to be another gorgeous day and this weekend is supposed to be the same.  We’re going to make sure to enjoy it because you never know when the weather is going to be cold and blustery.  I recently ordered the Wreath for All Seasons from Papertrey Ink and thought it worked perfectly with the sketch challenge on SCS this week.  It’s a nice clean and simple layout and I’m using up more of my Autumn Traditions dsp that was from Stampin’ Up! last year.

Tomorrow I’ll have a Cinch project for you.  I realized I still had my kit from Taylored Expressions sitting on my work table and Saturday will be another Sketch for You to Try sample.  Have a great day!

Stamps: Papertrey Ink: Wreath for All Seasons
Paper: Ruby Red, Soft Suede, Autumn Traditions dsp, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Ink: Soft Suede, Elegant Eggplant, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, Soft Subtles buttons (retired), natural hemp twine, dimensionals

Spooky Bats

I had this piece of designer series paper on my desk.  It was almost as if it was waiting for the Get Sketchy sketch for today.  I actually had something completely different planned out in my head but that all changed when I entered my stamp room.  I pulled out a piece of Rich Razzleberry dsp and stamped the Wicked Cool spider web in Whisper White craft ink in the corner.  I then added Spooky in Rich Razzleberry and heat embossed it with crystal clear embossing powder.  I added 3 half pearls.  The bottom is a piece of Whisper White card stock topped with a Polka Dotted and Flocked piece of Wicked Fun Specialty dsp.  I added a few crystal clear embossed bats on the non-flocked polka dots.  I finished it off with a 1 1/4″ Old Olive striped grosgrain ribbon.

Well I’m off to pick up Evan.  We have a date at McDonalds.  I ruined his Anakin Clone Wars tattoo, so we have to replace it by buying a Happy Meal to go with it.  See you tomorrow for another Sketch for You to Try from Jen.

Traditional Friendship

I am having a really hard time getting into the fall spirit when it’s over 90 degrees out today.  It’s going to be warmer then it was on Tuesday.  Fall is my favorite season so I’m not going to be happy if we go straight from summer into winter.  I like being able to wear jeans and long sleeved T-shirts and be comfortable outside.  Today I have capris and a short sleeved T-shirt on.

Today I pulled out nice rich fall colors and even used Purple with my Elegant Eggplant card stock.  This is a color I do not use very frequently.  I love it when it all comes together, but I normally have a hard time making purple work.  I have a few sheets left over from the Autumn Traditions dsp from last year.  I matted two of the patterns on More Mustard card stock and sewed around it with Chocolate thread.  I then made my main image out of Chocolate Chip and Whisper White.  I stamped the tree from Season of Friendship in Soft Suede and then used the 1 1/4″ circle punch to make leaves out of Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie and More Mustard.  I added texture to them with the Lattice Embossing Folder.  The sentiment is a Modern Label punch sponged with Elegant Eggplant ink and stamped with the Because I Care sentiment.  It is attached with dimensionals.

Here is to hoping Fall arrives before Winter does.  I’m going to try to put up a few of my fall decorations to see if that helps too.

Paper: Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard, Autumn Traditions dsp, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red

Spooky Boots

I have a quick card that I got done this morning.  I used the Sketch Challenge 298 from SCS.  I paired it with Cajun Craze, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Wicked Cool Specialty dsp and the Wicked Cool stamp set.

We have another full day – school, flu shots, soccer practice and Open House at Colin’s school.  Gotta run!

Wicked Halloween

Today finally feels a bit like fall and this morning we got some rain.  I hope that more rain is on the way because we desperately need it.  After dropping Evan off at school I came home to do the Sketch Challenge on SCS.  I paired it with Greeting Card Kids and Wicked Cool for this fun Halloween card.

The base is Rich Razzleberry.  I took a piece of Whisper White and used the Distressed Texturz plate on it before spraying it with Gold Glow Smootch Spritz and then doodled around the edge with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker.  I used a ruler to keep my lines straight.  I then stamped and watercolored in my Greeting Card Kids image.  I just love this stamp set.  It’s definitely a must have! I matted the layer on Rich Razzleberry.  The dsp is from the Wicked Fun Specialty pack and the striped layer is matted with Basic Black ink.  I added the small Pumpkin Pie oval with the Wicked Cool sentiment stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  The card is finished off with a Brights brad and Pumpkin Pie taffeta ribbon.

Well we are getting ready for another foster dog!  Her name is Cookie and she looks just like Bandit.  It looks like she’ll be arriving tomorrow so I may have my plate a little more full for the next few days.  My sister and my parents dog are leaving on Saturday, so then hopefully things will calm down a bit.  I hope to be back tomorrow with another project though!
