Autumn Gratitude

This morning I started my library duty in Colin’s school.  It was fun to be out of the house and helping out.  I don’t get to see Colin’s class while I’m there, but I did catch a glimpse of him during the fire drill.  I haven’t had to take part in a school fire drill in almost 8 years.  From there it was right to pick up Evan and then I got some time to stamp.

I used Mercy’s Sketch for this card and it’s headed out for the mailbox today. I used Certain Celery, Cajun Craze and Soft Suede for my colors.  The background is sprayed with Smootch Spritz to break up all of the Whisper White.  I used some Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon that is retired for the bow.  The stamps are Autumn Splendor and Define Your Life.

It’s almost time for Colin’s bus and I have dinner to get done so he can make it to Cub Scouts in time.

Autumn Thanks

The kids are in school so I’m making the most of my morning and headed right into my stamp room.  I like to start Monday mornings with a Clean and Simple challenge to get my mind working and what a better way to start than with watercoloring.  I love to color.  It’s such a relaxing thing to do.  I pulled out a Papertrey Ink set – Autumn Abundance and got to stamping and coloring.  I used a lot of fun fall colors (More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie) and then offset them with a nice cool color for the vase (Marina Mist).  I think they pair well together.  I also used a strip of retired Autumn Traditions designer series paper from Stampin’ Up! at the bottom edge that was punched with the Scallop Trim punch.

Tomorrow I have a new card for the SUO Challenge Blog.  I hope you stop by and join in on the fun!

Stamps: PTI – Autumn Abundance
Paper: Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Autumn Traditions dsp
Ink: Basic Gray, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Scallop Trim Punch, Hemp Twine, Mat pack, AquaPainter, dimensionals

Simple Thanks

Today I have a quick clean and simple card using Fall to Layout 105.  I chose to work with Concord Crush, Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. The stamp sets is Year of Flowers Lily of the Valley from Papertrey Ink.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for my Sketch for You to Try card.

Fun and Trendy Thanks

Today is back to school day!  Colin and Evan both started so now I have a 4 year old preschool student and a 2nd grader.  While Evan will only go half days it still gives me about 2 hours in the mornings to get things done.  I am happy with any time I can get.  I actually sat down and finished 2 projects this morning that you’ll see over the next few days.  I am so glad I took the 2 days to play outside when it was cooler because the heat is back along with the humidity.

This is another card I made for the Verve Anni-Verve-sary sketches.  This time I used Stampin’ Up! stamps on my card and no designer series paper at all.  I just love this color scheme and think it’s so bright and cheery.  The base is a 3 X 6 card made from Tempting Turquoise.  I used the Curly Label punch and Old Olive for the bottom of the main layer and added Early Espresso and So Saffron that was run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot embossing folder.  I also used a strip of Real Red, a circle of Whisper White and a piece of Crumb Cake.

I hope you have a great afternoon.  We are off to the store to buy more fruit.  I think my kids go through at least 10 lbs of it a week.

Stamps: Trendy Trees
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Early Espresso, So Saffron, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink: Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive
Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Big Shot, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Sponge Dauber, Sewing Machine, Half Pearls, Dimensionals

Playful Note of Thanks

This past weekend we went to a Kids Cookout to celebrate the end of Summer Vacation and the start of the school year.  I wanted to give  our friends who hosted it a little Thank You card and since it was for the kids I thought it would be fun to use nice bright colors and playful patterns.  I used another Verve Anni-Verve-sary sketch for this card.  I started with a Crumb Cake base and then layered Real Red with some Play Date dsp.  I used the retired Corner Rounder punch on both layers and then sewed around the edges.  The banner strips are Tempting Turquoise and I finished them off with a half pearl.  I again used some retired Alpine Originals Felt Ribbon.  The main image panel is stamped in Early Espresso using the Great Friend frame and then cut out by hand.  I added a Loop to Loop Rub on from the retired Hostess Set.  I then added a few Beautiful Wings butterflies with half pearls in Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Crushed Curry.

I have to run today.  I’m teaching a class at my Moms house and then we have to be home in time for a soccer game this evening for Colin.  Have a great Monday!

Beautiful Thanks

I hope you had a great weekend.  We took a 3 day weekend so that we could take the kids on a day trip yesterday.  We went out to Fair Oaks Farm, ate lunch, took the tour, played outside and had ice cream before heading home.  I also came home with cheese curds and a batch of them was just made yesterday.  There is something about fresh cheese that we can’t resist.  It’s absolutely delicious!

Today I set out on a quest to find a Dutch Oven and they are not as easy to find as I thought they would be and they are not inexpensive by any means.  I finally found one at Target that would fit the bill and not break the bank. Tonight I’m making Beer Braised Chicken and Twice Baked Rosemary Blue Potatoes.  I love the show 5 Ingredient Fix and I hope they taste as good as they looked.  I even learned out how to quarter a chicken for the dish.  I bought two whole chickens at Costco and I figured it wouldn’t be that hard to do, and surprisingly it wasn’t.  I found a video online and then got to work.

Since the day is winding down and I’ve been dreaming of the Fall to Layout 102 possibilities that is what I decided to stamp.  I started with a Crumb Cake base and adhered three 1 3/8″ circles from Sweet Pea designer series paper.  I distressed the edges and sewed the circles down.  I then added the Beautiful Wings butterflies from my stash on my desk in Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Crushed Curry.  I then used my Score Pal to add the embossed stripes and stamped the Trendy Trees sentiment in Soft Suede ink. I added more half pearls in between the sentiments, rounded the bottom corners and then sponged the edge of the card with Whisper White craft ink.  I really like how this card turned out.

Colin and Evan are going to Bears Camp for family night tonight.  I have Puppy class with Bandit and I have to get dinner in the oven soon so that we make it to our activities in time.  I’ll be back tomorrow with another creation for you to see.  I hope you have a great Monday evening!
